Ibrahimovic Has Replacements Lined Up

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been Sweden’s most important player for more than a decade, but at 32 years of age, he has little time left at the top of the game. Sweden already have a number of potential replacements lined up for the Paris St Germain striker. Manchester city star John Guidetti is one of them. The intense competition for places at City meant that Guidetti could only watch from the sidelines. This led to the club loaning him out to Stoke city in order to help him get some experience.

The loan spell at the Britannia stadium, though, has been very disappointing for the Swedish international after he made just six substitute appearances throughout the entire campaign. Ibrahimovic has recently spoken about the plight of Guidetti. He says that it is extremely worrying for the national team that players like Guidetti are not getting first-team opportunities even at a mid-table club like Stoke. Ibrahimovic is expected to take part in the upcoming friendly matches against Denmark and Belgium.

Sweden will not be taking part in the World Cup 2014 after narrowly missing out on a place in the finals. Ibrahimovic has urged the national team boss Erik Hamren to utilise more young players in the upcoming friendly matches.

“I’m worried about Swedish football after me. I am very worried. Very worried. Actually. Why? How many seats in their national teams? How many talents we have out there? We have the under-17 team. Is that what we’re waiting for? We’re talking about Guidetti. Well, how many games did he do this year? These two games are completely unimportant. Everyone thinks of holiday. We’ll just play by them and then it’s vacation,” said Ibrahimovic.

The forward was recently named as the best player in the French league after helping PSG to the title.

Ibrahimovic Named Ligue 1 Player Of The Season

Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named as the Ligue 1 player of the season. This is the second consecutive season in which Ibrahimovic has won the award. This follows a spectacular season in which he has helped the club retain the league title. Ibrahimovic has been one of the best players in the French league for the last two seasons. He is also one of the world’s highest-paid players earning a reported £ 15 million per year after tax. He has more than repaid this enormous fee by managing to score 25 goals in the league.

He has also scored eight goals in just 10 Champions League outings this campaign. Ibrahimovic missed the crucial second leg against Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals. Many have felt that the French outfit would have progressed to the semifinals if the Swede had been present. Ibrahimovic thanked his teammates for helping him score as many goals after receiving the award. The presence of the 32-year-old has been rumoured to be the reason behind Edinson Cavani looking to leave the club in the summer.

Ibrahimovic has won numerous individual accolades over the years. He has also been a perennial winner of league titles in the last decade.

“I am very proud. It shows that PSG’s season was very good. Mine, too, maybe the best of my career,” said the striker after receiving the award. Ibrahimovic will not be seen at the World Cup 2014 after his Sweden team were knocked out by Portugal in the play-off round. The 32-year-old, though, still has the opportunity to finish the season on a high after having already lifted two titles with the PSG. The club has won the French cup and the league title this campaign. PSG take on Montpelier in the final match of the season.
